Don't you just love coming home after a long day (or a long period of time) of doing something that requires a lot of effort (such a school, work, running errands, traveling, partying, etc) and then, finally you get to your bedroom...don't you begin to feel more relaxed? Then, do other things to relax such as lay on your bed, put on more comfortable clothes, cuddle with bae, watch your fave shows, or meditate/pray to get rid of all the energies you've encountered through out the day? Yeah me too!
That's why I feel like your bedroom is a very important part of the house. That's where you recharge your batteries so that you're able to face the world again! So your bedroom shouldn’t be plain & boring, it should be your sanctuary, it should be your sacred space, a place where you can re-center yourself, & should be the ultimate place for relaxation. In order to transform your bedroom into your sacred space, there are certain key elements that can give your room (and any other room you like to relax in) a peaceful vibe & make you feel super relaxed.
So here are 7 easy ways to transform your bedroom into your sacred space:.
Crystals are awesome, like seriously! Crystals are powerful tools that can be used to heal, amplify intentions, & can create a certain vibe in a room. They can even keep out unwanted energies as well! If you know me, you know I absolutely love crystals! I used to have an agate crystal tower in me and my boyfriend's old room. It was great for creating a peaceful environment and bringing people together. Everytime people came over, everyone always ended up in our room. I asked them why they always wanted to come in our room and they said the energy just felt nice in there, I would just smirk because that's that crystal power for you!
Selenite & rose quartz are great crystals for creating a more peaceful & relaxing environment. If you haven't read my blog post "7 Reasons Why You Need Rose Quartz Crystal, click here. Selenite is also good for removing toxic energies from your aura after a long day of having to around negative people. Himalayan Crystals can transmute negative energies and can remove toxins from the air. You can use regular crystals or you can also use lamps (or other decor made from crystals such as Himalayan salt lamps, selenite lamps, quartz flower pots, etc). Not only will these crystals make your feel good, they will add a beautiful touch to your room to!
2. Feng Shui:
Have you ever been in a room that made you feel a little uneasy because it was too cluttered, messy, or the energy in the room felt off? It's most likely that the feng shui is off. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice used to create harmony & peaceful energies in the home by incorporating certain elements (water, metal, wood, fire, earth). It can also influence your health, productivity, mental clarity, & cash flow!
To bring the earth element to your room add plants, to bring the water element into your room, add a mini water fountain to your room or a bowl or water on your alter. To bring the fire element to your room add incense or candles to your room (but more on candles later). To bring the metal element to your room, use brass lighting fixtures or brass plant pots. To add wood to your room, hang images of trees on your wall or landscape art. Feng Shui is such a complex practice & this paragraph doesn’t do it enough justice. Lighting is so important to set the mood. Certain lighting can be used to create a relaxed setting in a room, and if you share a room or spend a lot of time with your lover in your bedroom, this is the perfect way to even create a romantic vibe in your room.
Warm/soft lighting can create a feeling of warmth and comfort. Red lighting can give off a sexy vibe. Pink lighting can make you feel flirty and bold. Low lighting in a room general can make anyone feel the need to get more comfortable. Candles are another sort of "lighting" that can create a relaxing ambiance in any room.
4. Get a bunch of pillows and comfortable bed sheets:
"I'll only get one pillow", said no one at all! Have you ever saw a bed with a lot of pillows...didn't it make you want to just jump in it and take a nap. Pillows can be used of course to lay your head on but you can also give them to anyone that visits your bedroom to lay their head on too or even to sit on (not the same ones of course!).
Having comfortable bed sheets can are also a plus when transforming your bedroom into your sacred space. The bed is the most important part of the bedroom since that's were you rest so it should be the most comfortable so why not get super comfortable sheets, blankets, comforters, etc. to make your resting experience spectacular.
5. Use aromatherapy:
Have you ever walked into a room that just smelled awful? I’m sure it made you want to turn right back around & leave! What about a room that smells like cookies or something of the sort…doesn’t it make you want to stay? Especially if there are actually cookies in the oven (hahaha). Aromatherapy is the practice of using natural essential oils (derived from flowers and herbs) to enhance your psychological & physical well being.
It is a great way to create a relaxing sacred space while making your room smell wonderful. Some great essential oils to use are lavender, eucalyptus, mint, or lemon grass because they relieve stress. So you may be wondering how to use essential oils, it's really easy. Basically you get a bottle of pure essential oils & put a few drops in a diffuser & voila you’re room smells like heaven. Not hard right? I love using Sky Organincs essential oil. They're the real deal! Click the picture to get some!
6. Choose the right colors
By now I'm sure you know that colors affect your mood because of how certain colors make you feel in your everyday life. There are seven distinct “wheels” or “centers” of energy that are always in motion along the human body’s spinal column. They are called chakras. Each one has its own color and vibrational frequency, these wheels are the catalysts of consciousness and human function. They govern numerous emotional issues, from our survival instincts and self-esteem to our ability to communicate and experience love. Your chakras can become unbalanced & can cause disruption in your life or dis-ease. Color therapy is a complimentary treatment that dates back to ancient Egypt, India, & China. The treatment uses certain colors to affect your mood & psychological state which help to re-balance your chakras. Painting your room a certain color or including decor that’s a certain color can definitely change the energy of the room.
According to Color-Meanings.com, these are the meanings of each color:
Power, energy, passion, desire, speed, strength, power, heat, love, aggression, fire, blood, war, violence, intensity, celebration, luck..

7. Hang tapestries/art of deities, motivational quotes that makes you feel good.
We can't talk about transforming your room into a scared space without including deities that are important to you or quotes that inspire/motivate you. A sacred space is usually a place for worship, meditation, or doing certain things, that connects one with god/their divine selves which is why you should definitely have things in your room that remind you of your divinity.
The Hamsa Hand and Eye of Horus are great pieces of art to have in your room because they protect you from the evil eye. Meditating on the Eye of Horus can help to activate your pineal gland & give you access to divine intelligence.
Hanging a picture of Oshun on your wall, or having one on your altar and meditating on her can help to bring more abundance into your life, can help you be in a happier mood, and can bring more harmony and romance to your relationship. Having a laughing Buddha in your home can also bring continuous joy and abundance into your home while making you have a more optimistic attitude.
